BP Adviser & Adventure Co-ordinator

General Information

  • This role is suitable as a job share 
  • This role is open to those over the age of 21 years of age 
  • A knowledge of/or having gained the BP Award would be a great asset

BP Adviser 

  • Assemble a team of Guiders or other adults to assist you in your role (ideally, this would include an Assistant Co-ordinator, as well as an Administrator, Treasurer and support group for the weekend). This team should all be CRB-checked 
  • Change banking arrangements 
  • Establish and maintain a database for registering Guides onto the Baden-Powell Challenge (registration information from BP Form One) 
  • Work closely with the County Guide Adviser 
  • The BP Adviser is part of the County Guiding Development Team and as such shall report into that team and attend meetings as required (usually once per term)

BP Adventure Co-ordinator

  • Decide upon the theme and location for the weekend (minimum 3 times a year) 
  • Set the deadline for applications and publicise it on the County and Regional website and the SEAXE magazine 
  • Provisionally book the accommodation 
  • The BP Adviser or one of her team must have a residential qualification suitable for the type of Adventure planned 
  • Complete relevant camping\holiday paperwork and send to the County Commissioner (at least six weeks in advance), who will then send them to the County Adviser 
  • Mail consent and health forms, and kit lists to applicants (you may wish to include a photo permission slip) 
  • Confirm activities for the Adventure weekend and ensure that qualified instructors with the correct qualifications and CRB are in place where necessary 
  • Purchase requirements for weekend (for example, food, equipment) 
  • Hold the weekend 
  • Accounts have to be summarised and submitted to the County Treasurer (at the end of the financial year; they do not need to be submitted after every weekend) 
  • Notify County Badge Secretary of names of Weekend participants for certification and bade presentation 
  • Objective of the weekend: to give the girls a new experience, a chance to meet new people, a celebration of their life in Guiding, an insight into the wider opportunities open to them, to have fun, and something they will remember for the rest of their life

Training 

  • Offer training and advice to Commissioners and Guiders on the process and paperwork necessary to assist in the mentoring of warranted Guiders in their local areas 
  • Attend Guide meetings to discuss the process with the Guides to enable them to embark on their Baden-Powell Challenge and Adventure and to answer any questions 
  • This training will be offered to groups up to 20 people

Support 

  • Individual enquiries may be received by either telephone, e-mail or via a link on the ENE website. A County e-mail address will be provided for this purpose

Equipment 

  • None available, bought for the adventure as necessary.

BP Files 

  • Provide BP files\folder to individuals upon registration 
  • Update the BP file as and when necessary to reflect any changes 
  • Re-order more folders and contents as and when required
