History of Site

Old Building now demolished

It was necessary to urgently replace the old Guidewoods dormitory building to meet current health, safety and disability requirements. The original building, an old World War II army hut, was constructed of plasterboard with wire and rendered wall panel. It was moved to our site in 1968. It had no disabled facilities and was too small to be used residentially for persons over ten years old. A lack of heating did not allow use in winter months.

The new facility will be suitable for children's holidays, residential and one-day training of leaders, all day educational courses, weekly meetings and use for foreign exchange visitors.
