4th Eastwood Guides celebrate 50 years

24th Feb 2018

4th Eastwood Guides had a fantastic day celebrating their 50th Birthday at Guideacres on 24th February 2018.

4th Eastwood Guides were 50 years old on 15th February this year and had an event at Guideacres to celebrate.   Anyone  involved with the unit past or present was invited and a number of prior Guides were able to join us with many others sending good wishes as they were unable to attend.

Many activities were on offer including tin can pancakes, glass engraving, knots and gadgets, QR code Monopoly wide game, pyrography, cooking chapatis on trangeas, s’mores on the campfire and giant Jenga.  There were also campfire blankets, unit scrapbooks going back many years and other memorabilia on display.

Former members had an enjoyable time catching up and comparing notes of their Guiding memories.

The afternoon ended with a campfire attended by over 60 people where we sang songs old and new.   Current members were presented with a Baden-Powell award, 1st and 2nd year Challenge Badges, a Jack Petchey award and a leader 5 year award.

In the evening 27 current leaders, helpers and supporters enjoyed a tasty three course meal cooked by Mark the unit’s resident camp chef.
